G117 Understanding Motor Disinhibition
I found this a very interesting and thought provoking topic. Thank you Virginia and SIE for highlighting something I was not aware of. The examples and case studies were instructional. Many thanks

Great.
I found the topic and content so interesting as it really helped to fill some gaps in my understanding of the pupils I work with (Autism; Learning Difficulties; high communication needs) and I think it will really help me to understand some of their observable behaviours better. I think this will be particularly helpful as I work in an ABA school. The presenter is clearly very knowledgeable in this area and I found the case study very helpful in understanding the theory behind it, and also the different activities to help pupils with motor disinhibition. I have come away a little dissatisfied around my understanding on the topic. It might be that I need to go over the presentation again to more establish my understanding. I did find the presenter jumped about a bit, which I found hard to follow. It also felt like she was using a presentation she had prepared for a different event, rather than really preparing for this one, which may have made it more difficult for me to follow. It has definitely introduced the concept of motor disinhibition to me, and I look forward to learning more about it to better support the pupils and families I work with.
