SIE Sensory Symposium 2025

Sensory Integration Work Across the Multidisciplinary Team

Live Online | 6th October 2025
Recording available for 7 days

Sensory Integration (SI) is at a crossroads. Information about all things sensory is more visible than ever, but with this visibility comes confusion. From unverified online courses to fragmented professional standards, families and practitioners are left wondering what’s safe, what’s effective, and where sensory-informed practice fits within the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

That’s why SIE is proud to launch the SIE Sensory Symposium 2025—a free, live online event dedicated to shaping the future of SI across health, education and social care.

Why This Matters

The legacy of Dr Jean Ayres’ work has always been rooted in social justice, participation, and person-centred care. Yet today, many individuals miss out on the benefits of SI due to inconsistent access, unclear boundaries between professions, and outdated or inaccurate information circulating online. It’s time to move SI off the sidelines and create shared clarity across all relevant professions.

This Symposium will open a vital conversation: how can different professions use sensory integration safely, effectively and within their scope of practice? And how can we build a collective roadmap for the future?

What You’ll Gain

This isn’t just another conference—it’s the start of a movement. By joining, you’ll:

Explore how sensory-informed approaches strengthen MDT collaboration and resource alignment.

Gain clarity on professional roles: what each discipline should and should not do.

Understand how a shared SI framework supports joined-up, person-centred care.

Contribute your voice to shaping future standards of practice.

Be part of building a sensory-informed workforce that’s innovative, equitable and effective.

Meet the Panel

Facilitated by Amy Stephens (Highly Specialised Speech & Language Therapist, Advanced SI Practitioner), our panel brings together diverse professional voices:

  • Beth Smithson — Occupational Therapist, Advanced SI Practitioner, SIE Director
  • Karen Forrest — Occupational Therapist & Advanced SI Practitioner
  • Carolina Read — Physiotherapist & SI Practitioner
  • Mary Sheehan — Speech & Language Therapist & Advanced SI Practitioner
  • Jordan Garratt — Special Education Teacher
  • Katie Lydiatt — Educational Psychologist

Join the Conversation

This symposium isn’t about passive listening—it’s about collaboration. Attendees are invited to share reflections on three key questions about the role of SI in their practice via the online Symposium Forum:

  1. What might the members of your profession be missing if they don’t recognise where sensory integration and processing issues are showing up for the people they serve?
  2. What difference does having an SI lens bring to your own specific area of work?
  3. Where might you previously have held an incomplete understanding or even a misunderstanding about SI and what has changed?

We’ll capture the insights and publish a post-event report that sets the direction for the future.

Be part of this necessary and timely conversation. Register now for free and join us on 6th October 2025.

NB Please note the live event is limited to the first 500 people who login on the day. If you are unable to gain access to the live event, a recording of the event will be available to watch for 7 days following the event.
