Becoming a Sensory Inclusion Facilitator
28 April 2025
A New Opportunity for Health and Care Professionals
If you're a health or care professional working with people of any age, you’ve probably encountered individuals who struggle with everyday tasks — not because of a lack of ability, but because something just isn’t clicking between them, the task, or the environment.
That’s where sensory processing differences come in — and where your role can make a powerful impact.
Our new online course, Sensory Inclusion Facilitator Certificate - Sensory Processing Differences: Recognise, Adapt, Support, is here to help you do just that.
Why Sensory Processing Matters in Your Practice
Sensory processing plays a fundamental role in how people feel, behave, and engage with the world. When there’s a mismatch between someone’s sensory needs and the environment around them, it can affect everything — from daily routines and social participation to learning and well-being.
This course gives you the tools to spot these mismatches and do something about them.
What You’ll Learn
Built around a practical, real-world application of the Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model, the course gives you the framework to:
-
Recognise the signs of sensory processing differences and understand their impact on daily life.
-
Support individuals to understand their own sensory preferences
-
Adapt environments, tasks, and your own approach to promote participation
You’ll also learn how to use specialist tools like the SIE Sensory Insight Questionnaire, SIE Sensory Environmental Audit, and SIE Observation Crib Sheet to uncover hidden barriers and guide your next steps.
Become a Certified Sensory Inclusion Facilitator
The course includes a live online workshop day and an online assessment. When you pass, you’ll earn your Sensory Inclusion Facilitator certificate — a recognition of your new ability to integrate sensory-informed approaches into your work.
For those eligible, this course is a great stepping stone towards qualifying as a full Sensory Integration practitioner via SIE’s university-accredited postgraduate programme.
Small Changes. Big Impact.
Whether you’re a nurse, social worker, support worker, psychologist, OT assistant, social prescriber or Allied Health Professional, this course will help you look at the people you support through a new lens — one that asks: What can we change to make this easier?
Join a growing community of professionals who are learning to look with curiosity, adapt with care, and always keep the person at the centre.
