Learn how to recognise sensory processing differences and adapt your environment and approach to better support the people you work with.
...play a crucial role in how we focus, move, regulate emotions, and engage in daily life. When sensory processing does not work as expected, individuals may experience sensory sensitivities, difficulties with movement, or challenges in managing their emotions and behaviours. By understanding how sensory integration and processing works, we can better support individuals, adapting environments, activities and our approach to meet their sensory needs and improve their overall participation and well-being.
If you're a health or care professional, you've likely worked with people who struggle with everyday activities — not because of a lack of motivation or ability, but because the task or environment doesn't match their sensory needs. This course helps you recognise those hidden sensory barriers — and make small, powerful changes that improve participation, comfort, and well-being.
This course is suitable for professionals working in healthcare, community services, and other environments where sensory needs may impact participation and wellbeing.

Please Note:
The Sensory Inclusion Facilitator Certificate does not provide the skills or authorisation to carry out formal assessments of an individual’s sensory system. It does not qualify participants to diagnose sensory processing difficulties or to plan and deliver clinical sensory integration therapy. These activities are the responsibility of appropriately qualified healthcare professionals, such as occupational therapists with postgraduate training in sensory integration.
In summary:
This certificate offers a practical and accessible introduction to sensory processing, empowering participants to begin embedding sensory-inclusive approaches in everyday settings. While it is not a clinical qualification, it represents a valuable step for those who want to support individuals with sensory differences in a respectful, informed, and inclusive way.
Duration: 4 hours (4 x 1hr drop in sessions from July 2025)
Format: Online, facilitated by sensory integration specialists
What to Expect:
This course is ideal for health and care professionals looking to integrate sensory-informed approaches into their existing practice.
While it does not provide certification for full ASI practice, it equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to begin embedding sensory integration principles into assessments and interventions.
It also serves as a stepping stone to qualifying as a Sensory Integration Practitioner via our university-accredited postgraduate pathway, available to eligible professionals (OTs, SLTs, physios).

Sensory Inclusion Facilitator Certificate on passing the Assessment
Yes, the core part of the workshop will be recorded and available to watch for the remainder of the course. From 21 July 2025, the single workshop will be replaced by 4 x 1-hour drop-in sessions. The drop-in sessions will not be recorded.
At the end of each of the six sections, you'll find a short multiple-choice quiz based on the topic you've just covered. You can retake each quiz as many times as you need, but you'll need to score 100% to mark the assessment as complete.
Once you have completed all the course sections and passed the assessments, you will be able to download your Certificate of Achievement.
The live workshop will provide a great opportunity to discuss your own case study with the tutor and your peers in the group. However, if you cannot attend the live workshop, you will still be awarded the Certificate of Achievement if you complete the course content and pass the assessment questions.
You can contact the tutor and your fellow students from the Forum. You will also have the opportunity to meet with your tutor to ask questions during the online workshop or drop-in sessions.
You’ll have access to the course content for 60 days. You can also download a PDF summary of the key points from each lesson, along with additional case studies and resources.
We are launching a Sensory Inclusion Facilitator Certificate for Eduction later in 2025.
