Socialising and Sensory Differences
Welcome to the December issue of EmphaSIze! This month we are focusing on Socialising and Sensory Differences. With December now upon us and Christmas just around the corner, this means social gatherings and family get-togethers. For people with sensory integration difficulties, these gatherings can be difficult to manage with extra noise, Christmas lights, unfamiliar foods and lots of social interaction.
In this month’s newsletter, we have some useful tips and resources for you to share with your clients including this year's Christmas Sensory Survival Kit and our Sensory Gift Guide for all Ages to make it a sensory-friendly Christmas for everyone.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year!
Best wishes

Are You Looking for Ways to Make a Greater Impact for Your Clients?
We all know sensory processing plays a crucial role in our everyday lives, shaping our experiences and enabling us to navigate daily activities with ease. When faced with difficulty in completing everyday tasks, it's important we consider how individuals process and integrate sensory information.
If you are an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist, you may be interested in qualifying as a Sensory Integration Practitioner. You can then assess and support individuals with an SI-informed approach.
The upcoming deadline to apply to our SI Module 1 or, for better value, our Postgraduate pathway (PGCert, PGDip, or MSc) is 8 December 2023, and if you apply before then, you can still take advantage of our 2023 prices! The course begins on 8 January 2024 and more details can be found here.

Are you an SI Practitioner interested in sharing your knowledge with a like-minded audience? Well, this could be your opportunity to shine!
We’re currently working on our 2024 programme of courses and webinars and would love to hear from you if you’re an SI Practitioner with experience in a particular area of SI or SI-related research who'd be willing to host a webinar to share your knowledge with our professional audience of therapists. This year, our programme covered a broad range of topics including: An Introduction to Sensory Integration and Yoga; Sensory Integration and Schools; Autism and Interoception; Sensory Integration Assessment and Intervention in Eating Disorders; Working with Older Adults from a SI Perspective; and many more.
If this is something of interest to you or you’d like to find out more, drop us an email at: [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!
