Sensory Integration Education (SIE) is delighted to offer this new training in how to assess proprioceptive and vestibular processing, motor planning, and postural control using the SOSI-M and COP-R. The new training course delivers 8.5 hours of online training including TWO LIVE WEBINARS on 12 May and 9 June 2022 with the authors to cover the Theory, Administration and Scoring of the SOSI-M and COP-R. The course is suitable for occupational therapists and health practitioners with appropriate graduate and professional qualifications in their field of practice.
SOSI-M: Structured Observations of Sensory Integration-Motor Assessment
The SOSI-M is a new nationally standardised assessment of sensory-based motor skills, based in Ayres Clinical Observations, and developed by well-regarded experts in sensory integration. The SOSI-M includes 14 sets of administered items that assess proprioception, vestibular processing, motor planning, and postural control.
COP-R: Comprehensive Observations of Proprioception
In conjunction with the SOSI-M, the COP-R, a behavioural observation tool, was developed to provide essential information about a child’s proprioceptive processing. The COP-R comprises 18 items and compares a child’s observed skills to typical children their age. This tool provides information about the motor and behavioural skills linked to proprioceptive processing. It is one of the first tools to provide a systematic way to measure proprioception in a clinical setting.
