Sensory Integration Education

Some children seem to born with higher emotional needs than others, they often present as colicky babies, fussy older babies and emotionally labile toddlers. Managing these children is a challenge for their parents, who may feel like they have failed in their parenting journey. 

Dys-regulation of early infancy also predicts for more tricky behaviours in the long term. 

This workshop will look at the root causes for high needs behaviour, how not to label and rather manage the behaviour with empathy, insight and reflective parenting

Objectives

1. To understand the sensory cause for high needs children
2. To explore a sensory basis to colic and how to mange colic
3. To understand why older babies may be irritable and how to manage this behaviour
4. How to manage toddler tantrums

Learning outcomes

• To be able to communicate tricky behaviours and the reasons for them to parents and clinicians. 
• To give practical ways to manage these behaviours in a way that protects against long term behavioural challenges.
