Welcome to this special Summer Supplement issue of SensorNet, bringing you a brief update on developments in SI and in Sensory Integration Education. We’ll be back later in the year with our regular fuller edition packed with interviews and insights from practice and the frontiers of research.

Bookings Open for Free Virtual Annual Conference

We’re thrilled to announce the theme and stellar line-up for the SIE Annual Conference 2022, with the theme of From Sensation to Participation. Featuring keynote speakers Professor Shelly Lane, Dr Sarah A Schoen, and Carol Stock Kranowitz, author of The Out-of-Sync Child, as well as a packed line up of presentations, you can now reserve your free ticket.

New Title for MSc Programme

After careful consideration and consultation, SIE has updated the title for our pioneering MSc in Sensory Integration: the new title isMSc Advancing Practice Sensory Integration, accredited by Sheffield Hallam University. This new title better reflects the core capabilities delivered by this qualification and required by the modern healthcare professions.

SIE Brings in New Talent

As our range of CPD courses expand and growing numbers of therapists are choosing to train in SI via our postgraduate qualifications, we’ve created two new director roles this summer to help manage and develop our training provision. We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Stephanie Ruppel as Director of Postgraduate Education and Amy Stephens as Director of Lifelong Learning. Dr Sylvia Taylor-Goh has evolved her role to Research Director and Lelanie Brewer has a new remit as Student Development Director. Cathy Maguire is Culture and Engagement Executive Director. I’d also like to express my gratitude to my colleague Fiona Insch who now ably fulfils the vital role of Chief Executive Officer of SIE, keeping us all on track as an efficient and excellent not-for-profit organisation.

Supporting Fellow SI Pioneers Across the Atlantic

We have mutual respect for STAR Institute’s non-profit ethos and positive approach to improving sensory health so we welcomed the opportunity to support their quality series of events this year as their exclusive Inspire Sponsor. You can find out more about the first of their sensory health events and their upcoming summits here.

I really hope you’ll join us at the SIE Conference again this year, particularly because I hope to make a rather exciting announcement about a special project that we’ve been working on.
